We are a U Drill Manufacturers. Let me share with you the basic knowledge of the use of drill bits.

  1. The drill should be packed in a special box to avoid vibration and collision.

  2. When using, take out the drill from the packing box and install it in the spring chuck of the spindle or in the tool magazine for automatic drill replacement. Put it back in the box after use.

  3. To measure the diameter of the drill bit, a non-contact measuring instrument such as a tool microscope should be used to prevent the cutting edge from being bruised by contact with the mechanical measuring instrument.

  4. Some CNC drilling machines use positioning rings, and some CNC drilling machines do not use positioning rings. For example, if the positioning ring is used, the depth positioning must be accurate during installation. If the positioning ring is not used, the elongation of the drill bit installed on the spindle should be adjusted. Consistent, multi-spindle drilling machine should pay more attention to this, so that the drilling depth of each spindle should be consistent. If it is inconsistent, it may cause the drill bit to drill into the table or not be able to drill through the circuit board and cause scrap.

  5. Usually, a 40 times stereo microscope can be used to check the wear of the cutting edge of the drill.

  6. Always check the concentricity of the spindle and the collet and the clamping force of the collet. Poor concentricity will cause small-diameter drills to break and large hole diameters. The set speed does not match, and the chuck and the drill slip.

  7. The clamping length of the fixed shank drill bit on the spring chuck is 4 to 5 times the diameter of the drill shank to be firmly clamped.

  8. Always check the spindle presser foot. The contact surface of the presser foot should be horizontal and vertical to the main shaft without shaking, so as to prevent broken drilling and eccentric holes during drilling.

  9. The dust suction effect of the drilling machine is better. The dust suction wind can reduce the temperature of the drill bit, and the colleague takes away the dust to reduce friction and generate high temperature.

  10. The substrate stacking, including the upper and lower backing plates, should be firmly positioned and leveled in the one-hole-one-slot positioning system on the table of the drilling machine. The use of adhesive tape should prevent the drill bit from sticking to the chips on the tape, causing difficulty in chip removal and drill breakage.

  11. When ordering the drill bit from the manufacturer, 4% of the drill bit shall be checked for compliance with the regulations when entering the factory for inspection. And 100% check its nicks, scratches and cracks with a microscope of 10 to 15 times.

  12. Timely regrinding of the drill bit can increase the use and regrinding times of the drill bit, prolong the life of the drill bit, and reduce production costs and expenses. Usually measured with a tool microscope, the wear depth should be less than 0.2mm within the full length of the two main cutting edges. When regrinding, 0.25mm should be removed. Ordinary fixed shank bits can be reground three times, and undercut bits can be reground two times. If the grinding is too much, the drilling quality and accuracy will decrease, which will cause the scrap of the finished circuit board. Excessive tumbling can be counterproductive.

  13. When the wear diameter is reduced by 2% compared with the original due to wear, the drill bit is scrapped.

  14. The setting of drill bit parameters In general, the manufacturer provides a parameter table of the rotational speed and lowering speed of the drill bit produced by the factory. This parameter is only for reference. The actual speed and speed parameters of the drill bit, usually the actual parameters are different from the reference parameters, but the difference is not too much.
